Ben Davis, CEO

After a decade in enterprise sales with Fortune 500 companies such as Xerox, Parametric Technology and EMC, Ben left the corporate world to become an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, following his passion for sports and technology.

 

Ben co-founded Pixiem in 2003, which was among the first of its kind as a developer and publisher of mobile video games. In 2005, Pixiem was acquired by WinWin Gaming. Ben co-founded Phizzle in 2006 and has led the company through major innovations and technology adaptations from consumer data to IoT machine data while raising $20 million in VC funding. 

 

He is a board member at Elon University, School of Communications; member of the Alliance of Chief Executives; and advisory board member of Evidenced Based Associates. Formerly a professional basketball player in Europe, he currently resides in San Francisco. Ben is a graduate of Walsh University with a BA in Business.

Ryan Brady,  CTO

Ryan’s ability to architect and build backend systems that make the IoT work for real-time engagement, while leading the company’s technical vision, brought him to his current position of CTO. As the VP of Engineering, his expertise in the SaaS industry guided our transition into an edge computing solution. Previous experience includes working closely with industry experts in the litigation world by creating advanced data visualizations. As a trial consultant, working closely with experts in the medical, transportation, oil and gas, technology and structural engineering industries, Ryan helped attorneys win verdicts in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Using many of the same tools he created to automate the visualization of large amounts of data in real time, which is where he got his start with Phizzle in 2013.

Vijji Suryadevara, CIO & Head of Engineering

Vijji is an accomplished entrepreneur and executive, passionate about using technology to make a difference. Vijji brings her technical and management skills to the role of CIO & Head of Engineering to build a scalable technology organization and innovation culture to enable rapid growth of Phizzle.

 

Vijji was the Founder, CEO & CTO of CareerWaze a Future of Work startup. CareerWaze is an AI driven Career and Learning advisor helping users acquire in-demand skills. Vijji was also the Founder & CEO of BPA Technologies a VC funded Technology Services startup focused on Content Management Solutions for Fortune 500 Companies. BPA was acquired by a Moody’s group company ICRA in 2012.

Prior to this she held technology leadership positions and architected and built enterprise solutions in Content Management and Telecommunications domains. Vijji has a Bachelor’s in Computer science, Mathematics & Physics and a Master of Computer Applications from NIT Warangal.

Stephen Peary, CFO

Stephen serves as CFO and General Counsel for Phizzle. Previously, he served as CFO and GC for FPX, LLC and its predecessor Firepond, Inc., a publicly-registered OnDemand SaaS-based software company delivering complex business solutions.


Stephen also served as MD of Liverpool & London Protection and Indemnity Association, a mutual manager of marine assets and liability risks located in Liverpool, England and as Senior VP at PLM International, Inc., a publicly-registered company managing diversified investment portfolios.
 

Since 2003, he has served on the board of directors of NCIRE – The Veterans Health Research Institute located at the San Francisco Veterans Administration campus chairing its finance committee. Mr. Peary holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois, a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University.

Kari Baker, VP Customer Success & Operations

As Vice President of Customer Success, Kari is responsible for leading Phizzle’s CS team. Her team supports technology onboarding and ensures the successful deployment of Phizzle’s technology solutions. Having served over 300 clients at Phizzle, her goal is to ensure successful customer implementations, meeting or surpassing ROI and building a strong relationship with customers and partners. Kari began her career at Phizzle in 2010, where she served as both the Director of Account Management as well as Director of Channel Sales.

Mark Krentzman

Mark is a well-known investor, owner, entrepreneur and turnaround manager, having been involved in various ownership and management capacities with several companies during the past thirty years. He has served as Executive Chairman of Jones & Vining, an international shoe component manufacturer with operations in the USA, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia.

 

Mark has a strong track record as an entrepreneur, working with software, medical technology, internet, and telecommunications businesses, both in connection with fundraising and identifying significant opportunities for investment and growth in these fields, as well as helping in the turnaround of underperforming companies and creating significant value for shareholders. He has helped raise $94 million in financing for BioVentures Investors, a leading investor in medical instrumentation and drug companies. 

Mark has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance from Northeastern University. Mark currently serves as an Emeritus Corporator at Northeastern University and is a Trustee Emeritus of the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA.

Thomas Toy

Thomas Toy is a Managing Director of Startup Capital Ventures Fund II and a Limited Partner of Fund I. Tom has been Managing Director of PacRim Venture Partners (www.pacrimpartners.com), a Menlo Park-based venture capital firm specializing in diversified information technology, technology and clean technology companies. Tom presently serves on the board of directors of portfolio company HealthCrowd.

Tom is also a Venture Partner/Advisor for ICCP Venture Partners (www.iccpventurepartners.com), which is a limited partner of Startup Capital Ventures Fund I. Previously, Tom was a Partner at SmartForest Ventures and Technology Funding. Tom started his career at Bank of America, where he worked for seven years.

Tom has invested in early stage IT, cleantech and healthcare companies as a VC for more than twenty-five years. He has served on boards of directors of a number of public and private companies.Tom is currently on the boards of directors of Hanwha SolarOne (NASDAQ: HSOL) as well as several private companies.

Tom graduated from Northwestern University with B.A. and MBA degrees. He taught the New Venture Finance MBA course at San Francisco State’s College of Business, and he is a regular volunteer panelist for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s Job Forum.

Jim Whims

Jim is a Partner at Alsop Louie Partners. For the last decade, Jim was a partner at Techfund Capital in the U.S. and Europe, where he invested in companies like 3DFX and Portal Player. Jim was a co-founder of Worlds of Wonder and was a key executive at Software Toolworks and Sony Computer Entertainment. In 1996, Adweek/Brandweek recognized him as the Marketing Executive of the Year for driving revenues from zero to $1B in one year at Sony, where Jim managed the launch of the Playstation in North America. Jim also serves on the Board of Directors at THQ and Synaptics. He received his MBA in Finance from the University of Arizona and a BS from Northwestern University.

Ed Lau

Ed is the Managing Director of  ICCP Venture Partners. He has over 35 years of management and technical experience in US technology businesses in various roles. Since 1982, Ed has been developing technology, managing technology firms, investing in technology start-ups, or founding technology startups. He is a serial inventor – author to 17 patents to date – and has a sharp eye for disruptive technologies.

Ed was the CEO and Co-Founder of Newmoon Systems, an enterprise software company which was acquired by Tarantella, a division of Oracle. He also co-founded Audible, the pioneer and leading provider of spoken audio content on the internet which was acquired by Amazon. He was the former Chairman of TuneIn and served on the boards of FastSoft and BioImagene.

Ed holds a Master of Science and Doctorate degrees from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Mathematics from New York University.

Ron Ricci

Ron Ricci joined the Phizzle board in 2019 after retiring as the leader of Cisco's Customer Experience Centers and Global Demo Engineering Center of Excellence.  Ron is experienced in building globally scalable GTM sales strategies and programs for B2B technical buyers.  Ron also spent ten years reporting to then Cisco CEO John Chambers, helping Cisco tell its story and driving global collaboration across the company. Ron is also the President of the Board of Directors for the Bill Wilson Center, the largest provider of homelessness services to young people and families in Santa Clara County.  He is the author of two books about business and an award-winning fiction chapter book for early readers.

Advisor: Reginal “Reg” Spiller

A dynamic and accomplished executive with 20+ years of international and domestic energy capital market experience and a world-class energy expert spearheading oil and gas projects in 60+ countries. Reg earned success in taking 2 companies public in the US and London Exchanges, and has secured millions of investment dollars for expansive projects in the US, Africa, South America, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Reg is recognized by his peers as one of the world’s foremost geoscientists. Reg champions exploration and development projects in the world’s most prolific basins in challenging environments. Reg skillfully translates geoscience and engineering aspects of energy projects into value easily understood by capital markets and then identifies, develops, and mentors top-performing teams to ensure timely completion of projects.
