Air Quality On Campus

From the perspective of a recent graduate

It’s been two years since I graduated from college.

In that time, the world has changed. I never expected Work-From-Home or Zoom Rooms to become the new normal.

I certainly didn’t think that when COVID-19 hit, I’d be working at a company that measures air quality and dangerous particulate matter.

Going from school to business has been a giant learning curve. I can’t believe now that I know this much about dangerous air and particle counting. And I wish I knew how much the air we breathe affects our focus, health, and performance as a student.

That’s part of the reason why I am so excited about Phizzle’s recent announcement with The University of Miami.

Phizzle’s university project is groundbreaking -- the first time that lab-grade measurement tools will be used to create campus databases on air quality. It gives our team the opportunity to literally ‘create the map’ on air quality conditions for schools around the country.

Every institution can use Phizzle’s measurement technology to develop air quality baselines and danger zones. Starting points and standards vary by school, but Phizzle’s simple platform provides access to real-time, high quality data for facility managers to identify and fix any air quality issues.

There’s a common phrase you hear in tech: you can’t manage what you can’t measure.

This announcement shows Phizzle’s commitment to understanding and improving the air quality at our universities. I wish I had access to this type of data during my time as a student and I know my family members would have appreciated it too.

Students should be asking administrators tough questions about the steps they are taking to safely return to campus. Soon, we hope that these same students and administrators will be empowered by this project to proactively track and improve their air quality themselves.
